10 Healthy Snacks to Keep at Your Desk

10 Healthy Snacks to Keep at Your Desk

One of the biggest dilemmas you probably face at work is a midday craving. You want something sweet, you want something crunchy or you just want something to get you through the rest of your workday. Many offices unfortunately are not very accommodating in providing healthy snack options for you to choose from. These 10 healthy snacks however are simple, delicious and office friendly- meaning you can keep them stashed inside your desk for easy access.

10 Healthy Snacks to Eat at Your Desk:

1.) Whole-Wheat Crackers And Peanut Butter

This healthy snack can satisfy all your workday cravings. Crunchy, sweet and salty in perfect balance. Use peanut butter, almond butter or any other variety of nut butter and spread thinly on whole-wheat crackers. The nut butter contains a little over 90 calories per tablespoon but also contains a healthy dose of beneficial fats that will give you a boost of energy.

2.) Parmesan Popcorn

Plain air popped popcorn contains less than 100 calories a serving and adding a little bit of parmesan cheese for some flavor still makes this a great healthy snack to keep at your desk.

3.) Nuts Or Seeds

Nuts and seeds can keep for a fairly long time in your desk and munching on a few over your workweek makes them great healthy snacks. Nuts and seeds should be unsalted and, to keep you from overindulging, try buying them in the shell.

4.) Hummus With Veggies

Filled with iron, calcium, fibers and protein, chickpeas are a super healthy snack for your mid-day work snack. Combine your chickpea hummus with some fresh veggies to bump up your daily vitamin and nutrient dosage.

5.) Cucumber Bites

Top cucumber slices with cream cheese, feta or non-fat Greek yogurt and sprinkle on some crushed walnuts for a refreshing and delicious healthy snack.

6.) Easy Guacamole And Chips

Mash up a super simple guacamole using half of an avocado, limejuice, tomatoes and peppers. Eat some whole grain tortilla chips or carrots and you have the perfect mid workday snack.

7.) Wasabi Peas

These spicy little salty treats are great healthy snacks to stash at your desk in the office. Wasabi peascontain a good amount of fiber and protein, which can give you a boost of energy and keep your blood sugars in line.

8.) Dark Chocolate

Skip the vending machine and nibble on a small portion of dark chocolate to curb those sugar cravings you may frequently get. Dark chocolate is a super healthy snack that contains some powerful antioxidants. Limit yourself to one or two pieces because each small portion does contain close to 155 calories- but when compared to the calories in other chocolaty snack foods this can cut the calories in more than half.

9.) Whole Grain Cereal Or Crackers

Keeping a small serving of whole grain crackers (about 10) can help you feel full because of all the fiber they contain. It is all about moderation with this healthy snack though, so you will want to make sure you portion them out instead of stashing the whole box in your desk. Or portion out a ½ cup of whole grain cereal. They both contain around the same calories at about 80 and the cereal will tend to last for longer if you eat it one piece at a time.

10.) Fruits

Fresh fruits are always healthy snacks that you can easily keep at the desk. From berries or grapes to bananas or apples, this snack can help ward of your sugar cravings and help give you a boost to finish out your workday. You can also keep dried fruit at your desk to reduce the risk of anything rotting in your drawers. Find an unsweetened variety, or you can also mix up your own trail mix and include a few pieces of dark chocolate.

These Healthy Snacks can be an easy alternative to going to the vending machine

Just because you are at the office does not mean you cannot easily swap out those chips and candy bars for a healthier snack alternative. From sweet to spicy, these ten healthy snacks for the office are not only just better for you, but they are easy to tuck away in your desk so you can quickly feed your cravings.
